Private Clinic Gives VCT Service for Free

ADDIS ABABA (ENA), January 02, 2005—A private health facility Meseret Higher Clinic has provided Voluntary Counseling and Testing (VCT) to over 600 people for free in a weeks time here in the metropolis, clinic owner Yosef Teferi said. Yosef said that the people underwent the AIDS test at the clinic in cooperation with the Ethiopian Airlines, Worbek Industry and Trade Plc. and Kirkos Sub-City Administration from December 25, 2004 to January 1, 2005. Yosef said that the clinic, located near the Bole printing Press gives up to 200 people daily during the first days of the launching of the AIDS test. According to Yosef, the number of people visiting the clinic for the VCT service was beyond the capacity of the clinic. Yosef further indicated that he had planned to provide similar service in collaboration with NGOs and private businesses in the near future. The clinic launched the service with a view to making contribution in the national effort to arrest the rapid spread of the pandemic, he said.
